first film premiere of the new year calls for first voyage over the mountain into centre ville(and it calls for dior too). funny, it really is a whole other world up here in the mile end (not dior, more like sorel).

it's been a while since i experienced january in montreal. once the windchill hits its negative double digits, and most who are able have gotten the hell out of town, what remains is insular, unique, chill, and inspiring. a time for movies, books, dinners, drinking binges and odd rock shows. a time to hole up and for chrissakes make something, learn something, be something. only way through it is just to do it.

1 month ago today, my little nephew kai was born amidst the gale force winds and torrential rains of southern california's winter storms. in his precious first month of life, he would weather several more storms which he would combat and conquer, immediately proving himself to be the strongest and most resilient, not to mention most handsome, member of our family.  it's all upwards for this kid from here on in. welcome to the jungle little one.
