repubblica di san marino

the oldest surviving sovereign state in the world, and the place i am holed up in, nursing my post-tour cold. one of the most stable economies in europe, they have no debt, low unemployment, and a budget surplus. the hilltop fortress is currently a deserted tourist haven, its beautiful, empty medieval streets lined with cheesy shops selling everything from guns to dolls to elvis playing cards.
